Release notes
What changed in Provyl, newest first. Unreleased is what is already live and will be part of the next version. The version a console runs is shown at the bottom of its menu (for example v1.0.0 Β· 1fc18f9).
Unreleased
Name
- The product is now called Provyl. The console, the TV and phone apps, this manual and the website use the new name; the demo hotel is Provyl Concept Room. A hotel's own name, logo and look are unchanged. The TV's and the phone's built-in welcome now read Welcome to your room until the hotel sets its own.
Getting started and integrations
- Quick start, Video tutorials and Everyday scenarios in this manual β a hotel can set itself up from the invitation to the first guest β see Quick start.
- Open PMS API: any PMS (or integration platform) can send its reservations in a simple JSON format to the connection's webhook address β booked, in house, checked out, canceled, no-show; rooms by number, room types by name; invalid messages are answered with every problem listed. In the console, Settings β Integrations β PMS β Any PMS (Open PMS API) β see Open PMS API.
- OpenAPI files for the Client API and the Open PMS API, with a readable reference page for each β import them into Postman or generate a client (Client API, Open PMS API).
Console
Google Cast no longer shows as not activated after a TV restart. The Cast service starts a few seconds after the TV app; the TV now asks again for about two minutes, and the Dashboard issue clears by itself.
TV logs on demand: on TVs, a TV's β― β Logs has the TV send its console messages, app errors, remote keys and failed IDCAP calls for 30 minutes up to 24 hours, then stop by itself. Read them live, filter, download them; they are deleted after 7 days. Emails and tokens are hidden before they leave the TV β see TV logs.
Settings β Staff: a site's administrators invite colleagues by email, give each area a role, change it later and remove people β no need to ask support. The invitation link opens a Welcome page to choose a password; when the email cannot be sent, the console shows the link to send yourself β see Staff.
Templates in one list. A template is now a look (made with AI), its features and the rooms it is deployed to. Deploy sends it to all rooms, to room types or to single rooms, and shows first how many rooms will use it β see Templates.
New app template by AI starts blank, from a screenshot the hotel likes (the AI ticks the features it offers and recommends the closest layout) or from one of your templates, and asks four questions: what to show, the layout, photos and wording, and the name β see New app template by AI.
App Templates is now Templates β Features & rooms β see Features & rooms.
Room types are the groups. Every channel, app and movie has Shown in β all rooms or the room types you pick β and Preview as shows exactly what a room type gets. Room types counts the channels, apps and movies of each type β see Shown in.
Rooms (Guest Operations) is one table: guest, housekeeping, TV, temperature with β / +, lights and curtains, with filters and βΎ to work a room without leaving the list β see Rooms.
Dashboard: today's numbers, what needs attention and the rooms now.
Rooms is one list: housekeeping is set in its column (shown when rooms have a courtesy panel), the Housekeeping tab is gone. TVs lists every room with its TV or No TV; Add TV starts with the head-end setting. App activation moved to Watch β Apps.
The menu is Dashboard Β· Guest Operations Β· Content Manager Β· TV Manager Β· IoT Manager Β· Settings.
Dashboard is the hotel now: rooms, TVs and room devices as status bars with 24 hours of checks (every 15 minutes, the building system read-only), minor things folded into one notices line, and the open issues as cards. Monitoring and Quick access are gone; TV Manager's Monitoring is TV status β see Dashboard and issues.
Issues follow a problem until it is fixed: the checks open one when a room or TV fails, hand it to a person after an hour and close it when it passes again. In an issue, staff talk with the developers (their GitHub replies show up there) and can ask the AI about it.
Report a problem (on the Dashboard): a fast decision model sorts the report first, then the AI says what it is and what to do β the fix right away for a wrong setting β and files an issue for a person or, for a software fault, sends it straight to the developers on GitHub β see Report a problem.
Issues on the Dashboard have Open and Past tabs and a search box (room, words or #number); the separate issues page is gone. An app with an uploaded token that is not activated on a TV (e.g. Netflix) now opens an issue by itself, and closes it when the TV reports the app activated again. Report a problem has a cleaner layout, and a confident first check always comes with an issue draft.
Rooms: the TV's state, On/Off and restart are in the room's row; the row shows the temperature only (change it in the opened room).
Service package (Settings β Property): the basic package is always on; Room devices (IoT) is added per site. With it off, the IoT Manager, the device columns in Rooms, Room devices on the Dashboard and the guest's Room controls are hidden and the checks skip room devices. New sites start without it.
IoT Manager β Device status (first in the menu) shows every room device now and each room's last 24 hours of checks; it replaces Device history, and the per-room bars moved here from the Dashboard.
Upload movies (Content β Watch β Movies): an MP4 goes straight to the video service and is turned into streaming video for the TVs; it is shown to guests when ready. The space used is shown β 50 GB for a site, up to 4 GB and 3 hours a movie β see Movies.
Order by room type: each room type can have its own order of channels, apps and movies β Preview as a type, then Order for β¦ β see Order by room type.
Templates: Edit look edits the look as it is, and the name at the top is the template's name β rename it there or with β― β Rename. A built-in look is shown in its own TV app's colours (Suite: navy), as the TV shows it.
Find a room in long room lists: TVs, TV status, TV Presets, Features & rooms, Deploy and IoT Roll out.
TV and guest app
Atrium (Rail) look: the round shortcuts are Live TV and the room's smart apps β OK opens the app.
Remote: while watching TV, INFO shows the channel banner and PORTAL goes to the Apps screen (BACK goes to the channel list, as before).
Remote: the TV's LIST, SEARCH, Q.VIEW, Settings and SMART/Home keys are blocked β guests stay in the hotel app and cannot change the TV's settings.
A TV whose room uses the Suite TV app no longer shows the standard app for a moment after it restarts.
A TV starts in its room's template colours, with no flash of the TV app's built-in colours (Suite: navy) first. A TV starting for the first time β just installed or reset β stays black only until it has its template; a room using the Suite TV app then opens it already in the template.
Seven TV layouts β Atrium (a column of icons on the left with a welcome screen) is new β and six phone layouts, each with its own name, and 14 design systems in the design gallery.
Movies follow Shown in: a room only lists the movies shown in its room type.
Features & rooms is two simple tables: which template each room type gets, and what each template shows (Movies, Hotel services, Room controls β channels and apps are always in). A partner TV app is chosen when a template is made. Settings β Property keeps only rooms and room types; the TV preset of a room type is set in TV Presets.
Privacy
- Guest names from a PMS are no longer stored or shown in the console β reservations show only the first letter (P***) and the PMS reservation number; the TV still greets an in-house guest by name, and the name is deleted at check-out. Names already stored from the PMS, and any in the integration log, have been removed β see Reservations.
Fixes
- Deleting a look now deletes its uploaded logo and photos (unless another look uses them), and Find unused images cleans up images left by earlier deletions β see Templates.
- The building's lights are read from their group level again after the re-provisioning of the HQ rooms.
- Two links in this manual that pointed at the wrong heading now open the right one.
