Setting up a site

A new site is set up once for a pilot room, and then the same steps are repeated cheaply for every other room of the same kind. The console is split into managers — TV Manager for the TVs and IoT Manager for the room devices — and the steps below say which screen to use. You need the Devices area — see Areas and roles. For the steps on site, see TV Installation.

The steps

  1. Create the rooms — Settings → Rooms & Floors.
  2. Define the default TV preset — TV Manager → TV Presets: the IDCAP settings a TV should get. Create more than one if you have different kinds of TV.
  3. Install a test TV and a test room. Register one TV (TV Manager → TVs) and give its room the preset. For the room's devices, scan SE with IoT Manager → Provisioning → Discovery and apply what it finds.
  4. Test in detail, then save. Try everything on the TV and in IoT Manager → Rooms. When the room is right, save its devices as a Room Template. (A TV preset is already saved — it is the preset you tuned.)
  5. Install the other rooms — give the preset to their rooms (TV Presets → Rooms), and Roll out the room template to them.
  6. A different kind of TV or room — make another preset or template (a copy of the first is the quickest start) and repeat steps 2–5.
  7. Test in bulk and keep watching — TV Status and the Dashboard's Room checks with Check now, the Batch test button in each room, and History (test reports) when something goes wrong.
  8. Operate — Guest Operations → Rooms, to control one room's TV and devices.

Presets and templates can be copied from another site you manage, so a second hotel does not start from zero.
